The Postdoctoral Match-Funding Program, offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, aims to recruit and support exceptional postdoctoral scholars applying for the AARMS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.

This initiative provides partial salary support for postdoctoral associates who are highly competitive for external awards and will contribute to advancing the department's research objectives. Funding will be awarded competitively and is contingent upon securing an AARMS Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Congratulations to Joanna Mills Flemming and all the other

The Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) proudly announces the winners of the following six awards in 2024.

The Gold Medal is given annually to a person who has made outstanding contributions to statistics or probability, either to mathematical developments or in applied work. It is a prestigious honour that serves to recognize current leaders in their fields.
This year's recipient is Priscilla E. (Cindy) Greenwood from the University of British Columbia.

The Honorary Membership Award recognizes individuals who have had a substantial and long standing impact on the development of the statistical sciences in Canada.
This year's recipients are Sylvia Esterby from the University of British Columbia Okanagan, and James Hanley from McGill University.

The Distinguished Service Award honours a person who has contributed substantially and over a period of several years to the operation or welfare of the SSC.
This year's recipient is Hugh Chipman from Acadia University.

The Award for Impact of Applied and Collaborative Work recognizes outstanding contributions by SSC members in collaborative research and applied work, the importance of which derives primarily from its relatively recent impact on a subject area outside of the statistical sciences, on an area of application, or on an organization.

This year's recipient is Joanna Mills Flemming from Dalhousie University.

The SSC Early Career Educator Award recognizes excellence in teaching statistics by early career SSC members, through commitment to evidence-based pedagogy and in contributions to statistical education in Canada.

This year's recipient is Samantha-Jo Caetano from the University of Toronto.

The Lise Manchester Award recognizes excellence in statistical research that helps guide public policy in Canada.

This year's recipients are Jonathan Jalbert from Polytechnique Montréal, Christian Genest from McGill University, and Luc Perreault from the Institut de recherche d’Hydro-Québec.

More information about the award winners will appear in an upcoming issue of Liaison and on the SSC award winner pages.
